Well, I lied about when this would be done. I'm very sorry about that--life landed on my head like several tons of pain. That being said, if you've already started and have a great idea--go with it. I'm completely fine with whatever you want to write. I figured I'd just give you something about my ideas, if you want the prompts.

I'm genuinely very flexible and I honestly just straight up trust you. If you're interested in these ships, I'm sure we're on the same page. I have broad tastes and like seeing what authors come up with. I apologize for the delay in the letter, but very genuinely, don't worry about it if you're already on a path. I totally understand.

  • asexual characters in relationships with sexual characters, past or present or even mentioned.

Opt-Ins

Basically anything that is not a DNW I am willing and happy to read, but I wanted to make a specific point to opt-in to the following things. This list should not, in any way, be taken as a "please write me this" list, but if you find yourself writing a fic that includes elements of any of the following, you can soothe your mind with this. The only thing I ask is that you warn/tag liberally.

  • In-narrative racism/homophobia/sexism/biphobia/classism/ableism etc. You shouldn't feel the need to go out of your way to put it in, but if it makes sense for the story or the character, feel free to include it. That includes slurs, upsetting imagery, and anything of that nature.

  • Gore, non-con, generally upsetting things about consent and agency, and torture.
  • Incest and underage, as appropriate for the request

  • Cannibalism, necrophilia, bestiality as appropriate for the fic, character, and request
  • Character death, physical and mental illnesses, and permanent disability.
  • Any and all "magical realism" tropes, whether or not they fit the canon: time travel, soul bonds, soul mates.
  • Past relationships and unrequested canon and non-canon ships.
  • Infidelity, breakup fic, poly among requested characters (unless otherwise specified.

Crossover Thoughts

I like both portal crossovers and crossovers which are more fusions, where one of the characters has always lived in the other's universe. If I have preferences about which universe, that will be in the pairing specific DNWs. Other than that, the most important thing to me is that I get to see how these people deal with encountering each other and interacting. That could mean a big focus on "fish out of water" type stuff, but it could also mean a more "normal" ship relationship.

In general, I have no problem with past relationships and even significant angst being driven by past relationships. That'll be clear in my prompts, I think, but also feel free to throw in some Stucky/Endgame related angst, if that floats your boat. I love people moving on from bad relationships and finding happiness, that's one of my favorite stories, and I think a lot of these crossover ships are perfect for that.

Bucky in Space

James "Bucky" Barnes (MCU)/Finn (Star Wars ST), James "Bucky" Barnes (MCU)/FN-2187 (Star Wars ST), James "Bucky" Barnes (MCU)/The Mandalorian (The Mandalorian) & The Child (The Mandalorian)

Specific DNWs: Bucky backstory without some analogy to the torture, brainwashing, and memory loss in canon, Star Wars characters going to the MCU universe--that is, I want Bucky in the galaxy far far away. It can either be a fusion or a portal fantasy, that’s fine.

I am a very casual Star Wars fan, just admitting that upfront. I've seen all the movies and while I'm not quite caught up with the first season of the Mandalorian, I've been thoroughly spoiled and I will be totally caught up by the time reveals happen, so no worries there.

Finn/Bucky
The thing that attracts me to the Finn/Bucky ships is the vague sense that I was cheated out of a post-Stormtrooper recovery type story for Finn and I think putting him in interaction with Bucky could be a really awesome way to do that. Feel free to diverge from canon at any point with Finn--I don't have strong opinions on the way the sequel trilogy actually panned out, so you aren't going to bother me with any changes.

One thing I really love about both Finn and Bucky is that they've been through so much and they are, at the end of the day, shockingly well adjusted. Finn especially is a pleasant, even-tempered goofball--I love that. I'd love a story that leans into that for him as well as one that explores the limits of that, the moment where it breaks. Maybe the goofyness is a coping mechanism that will eventually fall apart, when he can't take it anymore. Maybe it isn't!

Some specific prompts:

* Bucky was a Stormtrooper, too. Maybe Bucky gets out first, or maybe Finn does. They encounter each other at some point and compare experiences.

* Bucky was the Winter Soldier--either with the First Order, or with another Star Wars organization, or even with HYDRA on Earth. He stumbles along the Resistance and Finn takes him under his wing.

* Finn meets Bucky while Finn is still FN-2187 and Bucky helps him find his humanity again. Perhaps while raising space goats on some backwater planet.

* In general, I love the idea of Bucky the space hermit--perhaps recovering after Endgame and Thanos, finding a place as far as possible from Earth as a way to find some peace again. Maybe Finn stumbles across him and learns to stay still, get some zen, and find peace as well. Maybe Bucky ends up coming to the aid of the Resistance when they need him!

Bucky/MandoVariants of Steve/Bucky
James "Bucky" Barnes (Marvel 616)/Steve Rogers (MCU), James "Bucky" Barnes (MCU)/Hydra Steve Rogers (Marvel Earth-61311)

Specific DNW: Story set post-crash/capture as TWS for 616 Bucky. What I mean by this is that I want Bucky as a kid/as Bucky, not as the Winter Soldier or in recovery from being him.

These are two variants of Steve/Bucky, but I am specifically interested in how they radically change things from the MCU. Also, I'm going to be real with you: both of them are great setups for kink and/or angst. For this one, a more fusion type situation wouldn't quite work--the nature of the crossover really relies on it being a portal situation or a situation where someone is brought over from another universe.

James "Bucky" Barnes (Marvel 616)/Steve Rogers (MCU)
MCU!Steve (possibly with a beard, just sayin’) coming into contact with too-young costumed hero 616!Bucky Barnes at a time when he gets a very angsty boner about it. After Bucky’s dead, or after he finds out that Bucky’s the WS and running away from Steve, or maybe he and MCU!Bucky are broken up for real after IW and now there’s this twink with hero-worship carefully hidden under impishness trying to be Steve’s friend.....

I don't have strong feelings about how this interaction happens. Maybe Steve accidentally travels to 616 when he's trying to go back in time for his dance with Peggy and ends up in a place where Bucky is far too young and innocent. Maybe, while he's looking for Bucky after Captain America: The Winter Soldier he uses some magic to try to make him appear and accidentally snatches 616!Bucky from the multiverse.

Daddy kink is welcome here, but not necessary. Mostly I want fucked up complicated feelings with a really inconveniently young-looking Bucky around to mess everything up.

James "Bucky" Barnes (MCU)/Hydra Steve Rogers (Marvel Earth-61311)

(I'm going to largely copy and paste here from my consent issues letter, where I requested the same ship. It's here if you want to check out the freeforms I picked.

Here is the request where I want Dark Steve. I've read a lot of this run, but not all of it--I don't care about spoilers. One important note is that HYDRA!Steve from the universe I'm requesting didn't grow up with Bucky--so I'm not interested in a world where MCU Steve is actually in HYDRA, I want this comics Steve somehow connecting with our MCU Bucky, who has his own Steve that he remembers and loves. I'm fine with any plot reason for this, including stuff playing with Endgame. Maybe HYDRA!Steve shows up after Steve returns to the fifties in Endgame like, gee I think this universe needs a Captain America and ends up doing horrible things to Bucky before people notice that he's actually HYDRA.

Maybe there are some multiverse shenanigans and while Bucky is the Winter Soldier, he's transferred into the control of HYDRA!Steve, who has no idea who he is but learns quick to take advantage of Bucky's attachment. Maybe Bucky gets captured by HYDRA!Steve while he's recovered and in his full mind, but can't help but react to Steve like he's someone he knows and loves.

This can happen in the context of a romantic relationship between Bucky and MCU!Steve or not. Maybe Bucky always pined, but MCU!Steve was straight! Maybe the other way around--MCU!Steve had a crush and they both just didn't acknowledge it.

I'm a fan of a million different takes on the "hard-non-con" here, so to speak, with the twist of HYDRA!Steve having a beloved face. I'd be especially in to Bucky being chained up and raped in a dungeon. I love the idea of Bucky trying for defiance and nonchalance and not quite pulling it off. I love the idea of HYDRA!Steve using his cunning to try to figure out Bucky and MCU!Steve's backstory, which he didn't live and doesn't know.

Like I've said before, the moment of rescue or discovery is especially good for me--how does Steve feel when he finds out that his face and body has been raping Bucky for days? What is the aftermath like? Can Bucky recover his trust in Steve?

Chris Evans is In Way Over His Head

The Winter Soldier (MCU)/Chris Evans (MCU RPF)

Specific DNWs: canon divergance about Bucky's backstory up to the beginning of The Winter Soldier. That is, I'd like his backstory to be the same as it is in his canon. (Things that could exist along his backstory and just have been off screen--like past Steve/Bucky, details of his time with HYDRA etc, all that's fine. Basically, I want to make sure there is torture, amnesia, brainwashing, and cryo chambers.) If you want, Chris Evans could end up with Bucky-as-the-Winter Soldier on his lap before the events of TWS movie or whenever makes sense. Just keep some amount of sad HYDRA backstory ;)

The thing I love about this is a guy who has resources--a rich famous actor--but who is not in any way a superhero dealing with the mess of trauma and violence that is a mostly-unrecovered Winter Soldier. Bucky isn't in his right mind and this guy looks a lot like Steve, maybe he shows up and attaches himself and now Chris has to deal with it.

I have a mild preference for a Chris Evans that has always lived in the MCU--and is, therefore, familiar with the idea of superheroes/knows he looks rather like Captain America, but I'm fine if you want it to be normal world Chris Evans. I'm also fine if you want Steve to show up in whatever capacity. A threesome, even, would be a delight. A big part of this for me is Chris struggling to keep his head above water and do right by Bucky, even though Bucky is baffling and often terrifying.

Killmonger Ships

Erik Killmonger (MCU)/Erik Lehnsherr (X-Men ATM), Erik Killmonger (MCU) & Erik Lehnsherr (X-Men ATM), Erik Killmonger (MCU)/Emperor N'Jadaka (Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda Comics), James "Bucky" Barnes (Captain America Movies)/Erik Killmonger (Black Panther 2018)

Specific DNWs:
* canon divergance about Bucky's backstory up to the end of The Winter Soldier. That is, I'd like his backstory to be the same as it is in his canon. (Things that could exist along his backstory and just have been off-screen--like past Steve/Bucky, details of his time with HYDRA etc, all that's fine. Basically, I want to make sure there is torture, amnesia, brainwashing, and cryo chambers.) One big exception: Erik can rescue Bucky at some point before canon and things can diverge.

* Erik being raised in Wakanda. That is, I want Erik to have the same backstory as in canon, with the anger, betrayal, and desire for revolution. One big exception: Erik can rescue Bucky at some point before canon and things can diverge.

Erik Killmonger &/ Erik Lehnsherr

The thing I find fascinating about the two of them is how similar they are, paired with how much they'd fucking hate each other at first. They'd both be convinced the other has entirely wrong political ideas and they'd definitely butt heads. It's a fascinating dynamic for me, because it puts a lot of pressure on the idea of mutants as a metaphor for real world oppression. This is a ship where the politics of it all are unavoidable and I'd love for you to lean in and explore that.

A specific prompt is that maybe they have an alliance of convenience at some point and it turns into more. Or maybe after the events of Black Panther, Killmonger tries to rebuild his plan and ends up in some uneasy coalition with the Brotherhood. Or maybe even, before Black Panther, Killmonger tries to work with the Brotherhood and it ends badly, leading to fucked up interpersonal stuff and politics colliding unfortunately.

Erik Killmonger (MCU)/Emperor N'Jadaka (Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda Comics)
The thing I like so much about this possible crossover is how Emperor N'Jadaka could damage Erik's self-image. N'Jadaka, in power, is the evil oppressor who takes full advantage of his power. What does that do to Erik's understanding of himself? How does he reevaluate his perspective on politics because of that, if at all? Feel free to do whatever kinky things catch your fancy with the Klyntar symbiote that N'Jadaka is infected with.

James "Bucky" Barnes (Captain America Movies)/Erik Killmonger (Black Panther 2018)
I have approximately one million thoughts on these two. I love the idea of them as a ship. I love their parallels--shared history of dehumanization, assassin background--and I love the very strong divergences, in that there's a really important difference between being dehumanized by 400 years of Western civilization and being dehumanized by a magic chair. The only person Erik ever was is this, rage and humor grown up together like intertwined vines. I love that difference between the two of them, what it means for recovery--what does recovery even look like, if you're Erik? What does it mean to heal trauma, when the trauma is (in part) the last 400 years of civilization?

I love how they'd inevitably butt heads. Bucky, as we see him in Wakanda, has worked really hard to find peace for himself and in his own life. He knows there'll be a fight, but he seems to be looking for a way to avoid fights, generally. That's very different than Erik and it is not something that Erik would easily understand. The thing I love about it is that Bucky and Erik can help each other see something true on the other's experiences and help each other move to a place where they can see past their trauma to a future.

Specific prompts include:

* Recovering together in Wakanda, and all the frictions that would entail.

* Interactions between the Winter Soldier and Killmonger, while he was at the CIA. I bet Erik would be fascinated by this white guy who is treated so thoroguhly as an object by his handlers. I bet it would be entirely and completely unsurprised that HYDRA is at the core of the US government.

* Erik activating Bucky during his coup of Wakanda and dealing the aftermath of that. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he figured out/knew the code words and when he found out there is a famous assassin chilling in Wakanda's cryo tubes, I could see him taking advantage of that. And, of course, Bucky would be furious/shattered to his core.

Other Bucky Ships

James "Bucky" Barnes (MCU) & James (End of the Fucking World), James "Bucky" Barnes (MCU)/Ransom Drysdale (Knives Out), James "Bucky" Barnes (MCU)/Wade Wilson (Deadpool Movieverse)

Specific DNWs: Canon divergance about Bucky's backstory up to the end of The Winter Soldier. That is, I'd like his backstory to be the same as it is in his canon. (Things that could exist along his backstory and just have been off-screen--like past Steve/Bucky, details of his time with HYDRA etc, all that's fine. Basically, I want to make sure there is torture, amnesia, brainwashing, and cryo chambers.

James "Bucky" Barnes & James (End of the Fucking World)
One note here is that I haven't seen the second season yet, but I intend to. These prompts are based on the first season, with the assumption that James survives.

The thing I find interesting about this interaction is that I really think James could use a guy like Bucky in his life. Bucky would not at all be shocked by James's violent urges or capabilities, but he could help him to a place where they aren't something that rules him. I really love the idea that Bucky lives with violence all the time and maybe has gotten to a place where he doesn't have to deny it to remain peaceful--that's something that James could learn.

James "Bucky" Barnes/Ransom Drysdale

Mmm, fucked up bad idea sex. I love the idea of Bucky being drawn to Ransom, because he looks like Steve. Either because Steve was his ex and it ended badly (see: Endgame) or because Steve is tragically straight and Bucky's pining was never reciprocated. I love the idea of Bucky being horrified with himself but repeatedly falling on Ransom's dick anyway, because Ransom is hot and looks so familiar. Juicy, fucked-up bad decisions would be amazing.

Another great prompt would be if Ransom and Bucky met each other in prison. Why would they keep the Winter Soldier in gen pop? IDK! But I bet Bucky is very well-behaved and has earned the "privilege" so to speak. I really like prison fics and this is a great premise for one.

Last idea is that Bucky guides Ransom to being less of a terrible person with sex and sympathy.

Bucky/Wade

Okay, so this started off as a crackship for me but it ended up so much more. I think Bucky would really benefit from a partner like Wade? Especially in a lot of fic, Bucky seems inclined to angst, broody, and self-hatred. Wade wouldn't have any of that. I love the idea of Wade fanboying over Bucky and making clear that he thinks that the Winter Soldier thing is actually really badass backstory. I love the idea of Bucky growing toward equanimity toward his past because of how enthusiastic Wade is about it. I love the idea that Bucky has some fucked up kinks because of his backstory--murder, cannibalism, etc--and Wade takes it entirely in stride.

I've also, in general, started to develop a weird thing about Bucky and Wade and exploring kinks in general, even if they aren't specifically focused on Wade's ability to regenerate his body. Maybe they explore Daddy kink and Wade's gusto and highly developed sense of the ridiculous keeps them moving merrily forward, even though Bucky has some moments of awkwardness about it.

Maybe Bucky-as-the-Winter-Soldier runs into Wade and the Winter Soldier's humorlessness runs smack dab into Wade's everything. I bet that would be amazing to watch. I've requested this a bunch in various Writing Rainbows, though mostly with kink tags, so if you want some specific sex prompts, feel free to check those out. Here is one of them.
