seinmit on ao3.
Hello! Thank you for writing for me, I’m very excited. In general, your brief should be to write the best story you can. I like a bunch of different things and a lot of different takes on characters. With all these fandoms, I am eager for any and all fic in them—if you are inspired or have a great idea, run with it. I think there's a total of two fics on ao3, for all my canons combined? So, yeah. I'm thirsty for just about anything. I’m giving prompts and thoughts for writers that like that, but if you don’t, feel free to check my DNWs and move on with your story.
I like ambition and creativity. In general, I want you to tell the story you want to tell and make the choices you need to make in that context. I'm so excited to see what you come up with and thank you, again, for writing for me.

Opt-Ins
Basically anything that is not a DNW I am willing and happy to read, but I wanted to make a specific point to opt-in to the following things. This list should not, in any way, be taken as a "please write me this" list, but if you find yourself writing a fic that includes elements of any of the following, you can soothe your mind with this. The only thing I ask is that you warn/tag liberally.
- In-narrative racism/homophobia/sexism/biphobia/classism/ableism etc. You shouldn't feel the need to go out of your way to put it in, but if it makes sense for the story or the character, feel free to include it. That includes slurs, upsetting imagery, and anything of that nature.
- Gore, non-con, generally upsetting things about consent and agency, and torture.
- Incest and underage, as appropriate for the request
- Cannibalism, necrophilia, bestiality as appropriate for the fic, character, and request
- Character death, physical and mental illnesses, and permanent disability.
- Any and all "magical realism" tropes, whether or not they fit the canon: time travel, soul bonds, soul mates.
- Past relationships and unrequested canon and non-canon ships.
- Infidelity, breakup fic, poly among requested characters (unless otherwise specified.
Anthropology from a Pragmatic Point of View - Immanuel Kant
Characters Requested: Immanuel Kant, A Rational Being from Another Planet
Preferred Ships: Kant/Alien, Kant & Alien
✔️Yuleporn ✔️Crueltide ✔️Interactive FictionAU DNW Clarification: For AUs, I would like Kant to stay a philosopher and for the time period to remain the Age of Enlightenment. I would like any alien presence not to have noticeably changed the course of human history prior to the encounter with Kant.
What I Love
Kant and Aliens! Kant had weirdly strong opinions about aliens. Aliens being real would have weirdly strong effects on his overall philosophy. The whole point of the Kantian story is that there is something special about humans--their capacity for reason--that allows them to be able to understand the moral law and act freely. Human capacity for reason is identical to their capacity for freedom. There is a strong sense in which this cannot be specific to humans--if we met aliens tomorrow that had the capacity for reason, they would be indistinguishable as moral agents to Kant from humans. Maybe.
He also does really interesting world-building in the anthropology, talking about what would have to be true about a rational being from another planet and possible things that could not be true. The example that comes to mind immediately is him talking about "rational beings who could not think in any other way but aloud":
These beings would not be able to have thoughts without voicing them at the same time, whether they be awake or asleep, whether in the company of others or alone. In what kind of different behavior toward others would this result, and what kind of effect would it have in comparison with our human species? (AP, 250).. This sort of thing makes this text enormously intriguing and he does all sorts of weird things with it.
Prompts
- Worldbuilding! Did Kant have an encounter with "the rational beings who could not think in any other way but aloud?" When he claims that they could not meaningfully be friends or have any respect for each other, is he speaking from experience? Did he have a romance with an unfortunately frank rational being from another planet who could only think aloud?
- The Anthropology contains all sorts of weird Kant Thoughts on Life—dinner parties, in particular. When you pair his strong thoughts on dinner parties with his claim that you can only understand human anthropology in the context of the alien, one has to ask: did he go to a horrifying alien dinner party?
- One really cool way to think of this would be to tell a "period" science fiction story. The Age of Enlightenment had a type of proto-science fiction and it would be cool to tell the story of Kant’s aliens in that style. The classical themes of science fiction—the nature of thought, exploration of the unknown, all that stuff—mesh well with the concerns of the period. It would be neat to tell the story like a fusion with something like Voltaire’s Micromégas, with what someone in Kant’s era would think of as a science fiction story.
- If you want to do a different format, I would love an alternate version of the text where he was actually abducted by aliens. Or his letters/private notes/journals about the alien abduction! What is the Kantian euphemism for being fucked in the ass by aliens?
- I'd also love a straightforward third-person POV story about Kant being abducted and fucked by aliens--bring the xeno, tentacles, etc. The aliens should draw heavily from the characterization of them in the book, but that would be really cool. What would it be like to be raped and impregnated by a creature that can only think aloud? How would Kant respond to such an intense violation of his agency?
- I’m opting in for IF for this request alone, because that sounds enormously cool and thematically interesting
Finding Canon
The actual text—Anthropology from a Pragmatic Point of View—is readily available on libgen and I have a search with a couple different versions cued up here. If for some reason you can’t download it yourself, I’d be happy to pick a version for you and put up a PDF. Anonymous comments are turned on, IP logging is off. I have no preference as to translation that you refer to.
If you want a (relatively) easier introduction to the text, there’s a great academic article that comprehensively covers the "aliens" angle that I’m interested in, here:
When Washington Was In Vogue - Edward Christopher Williams
Characters Requested: Any (Bob Fletcher, Caroline Rhodes, Davy Carr, Tommie Dawson)
Preferred Ships: Bob Fletcher/Davy Carr, Caroline Rhodes/Tommie Dawson, Bob Fletcher/Caroline Rhodes/Davy Carr/Tommie Dawson
✔️Yuleporn (I'm not anti-Crueltide, I just don't have any specific darkfic prompts here.)AU DNW Clarification: I would like the setting to remain 1920s Black Washington DC. If you would like to do weird things with what that means (magic! flapper-steam-punk! whatever!), I am fine with that. But please keep it recognizably 1920s Black Washington DC in the same way that something like Fallen London is bizarre and fantastical, but recognizable Victorian London. Please do not create an alternate universe where anti-Blackness does not exist. It doesn't have to be a focus of the fic--it isn't in canon--but I would prefer not to have a no-anti-Blackness-AU in the way you sometimes get no-homophobia-regency-AUs. For that matter, please no AUs without sexism or homophobia either. It absolutely doesn't have to be the focus of the fic, but I'd like it within a stone's throw of historical accuracy.
What I Love
I made a fandom promo for this post here and there will be a lot of overlap between that and this.
I love this book because it is so fucking fun. It is a fizzy comedy of manners, packed full with romance tropes, fancy parties, drama about who is going to marry who, silly plots to make love interests jealous, and a core group of four main characters who all just essentially like each other.
The main character (Davy Carr) is more than a little oblivious to the flirting of the wild-child flapper (Caroline Rhodes) who is in love with him. They have a bantering, teasing relationship, but she trusts him absolutely, and he’s the one she goes to when she’s in trouble. He, in fact, comes to his rescue, when a dastardly rogue is trying to take advantage of her and her bestie in an Atlantic City gambling hall. Their dynamic is a lot of fun, with Davy old-fashioned and a little academic, with a stubborn and no-nonsense core, and Caroline very thoroughly modern (for the 1920s).
The novel is not all that feminist, but that doesn’t stop Caroline from being an amazingly compelling character. She smokes, she drinks, she hangs out with men and steals Davy’s cigarette holder. Davy scolds her by saying that if he was her father, he'd spank her, and she keeps that joke alive flirtatiously for some time.
The f/f ship is great too! Caroline and her best friend Tommie have a huge amount of intimacy with one another. Tommie is always looking out for Caroline and a definite steadying influence on Caroline’s wildness. Tommie is sweet and kind to Caroline’s sauciness, and so beautiful that Davy says she’s the loveliest brown girl he ever did meet. To give you some idea of Caroline and Tommie’s dynamic, before introducing Davy to Tommie, Caroline very seriously warned Davy not to be unkind to her friend because she is so plain, confusing the hell out of Davy.
If you like m/m ships, the whole novel is told in letters from Davy to his war buddy and best friend Bob Fletcher, and the letters are intimate and even sexually charged enough that the introduction calls out the homoeroticism. In fact, Caroline, at one point, says to Davy that she has no idea what all he writes to Bob and that she had assumed the fat letters were to "his best girl."
The end game ships are Caroline/Davy and Tommie/Bob, but all four of the characters have such enormous affection for each other than the poly foursome is also really compelling. There are many scenes where every combination of these four are together, affectionately talking about the others.
And oh yeah, did I mention? Every single one of these characters is Black. The novel doesn’t have a single white character. It is entirely set in the Black upper crust of 1920s Washington. It mentions race relations, the problems of colorism, and the various ways that systematic anti-Blackness touches all their lives, but the story is far more of a romance than a social commentary. But, if you’re interested in writing a fic that draws that out, there is a lot of opportunity here.
A specific thing I love about how Blackness is treated in the novel is that Davy is explicitly and happily into Caroline’s darker skin, really pushing back against some pretty relentless colorism of the period. Davy spends a lot of time examining the colorism of the people around him, thinking about white-passing, and otherwise considering these issues of anti-Blackness which are more about intra-Black community relations, and it is a fascinating take on issues common to a lot of Harlem Renaissance novels.
Prompts
- Foursome getting together!! The book ends with Caroline/Davy and Tommie/Bob paired up, but they love each other so much. What if they end up together, as a happy foursome, with all angles of the square in love with each other.
- Pre-canon Bob/Davy. They were war buddies…maybe they found comfort in each other on the battlefield. Or maybe in Harlem, where at least Bob lives and Davy possibly lived before moving to Washington.
- Tommie/Caroline, all the classic sexuality discovering tropes. Caroline teaching Tommie how to dance/kiss! Tommie and Caroline getting dressed and touching each other, enjoying each other’s beauty in a physical way, instead of just verbally like canon.
- Canon-divergence AU where Bob/Davy and Tommie/Caroline are the real couples, but they use each other as beards to continue to live respectably in society.
- If you are more into gen, I am particularly into the Davy & Tommie friendship. They have so much affection for each other, and I love the way they bond, both on their own behalf and in the context of their love for Caroline.
- Babies??? That’s not really a prompt, but it is a fact that I love baby stories and these couples would be excellent to follow in the pregnancy/baby process.
- Stuff about the political context of the period is also welcome, even though I’ve mostly talked about the romance tropes.
- Bring me the fandom magical realism tropes. Soul-bonds! Soulmate marks! A/B/O! How does canon change when you add these things to the mix?
- What about magic? Can you add magic to the mix? What if Davy is doing research on wizards in the African slave-trade instead of what he was doing research on in canon
Finding Canon
The book is in print, but it does not exist digitally…until now. I spent some time with a book scanner and made a PDF copy and it is on google drive here. It isn’t perfect quality, but if you want to give this canon a shot, I highly recommend downloading. If google drive doesn’t work for you, let me know. Liquor Series - Poppy Z Brite
Characters Requested: Gary "G-Man" Stubbs, John Rickey
Preferred Ships: G-Man/Rickey
✔️Yuleporn ✔️CrueltideAU DNW Clarification:I would like the setting to remain late 1990s/early 2000s New Orleans and I would like Rickey and G-Man to still be restaurant cooks. You can do whatever you want to the universe, as long as those things are still true.
Specific DNW: Please don't break this ship up or add anybody permanently to it. Things can happen over the course of the fic (infidelity, temporary breakups, or getting together fic), but I would like them to be coupled at the end of the story. It can be pre-slash or focused on gen aspects of their life, but please don't have any other endgame ships for either G-Man or Rickey if you go for pre-slash.
What I Love
I love this ship so much. They’re a loving couple in a working-class, mildly homophobic environment, and the narrative nods at the homophobia but doesn’t dwell on it. The ship is a great instance of flighty genius/solid support without being cliche or terrible on either of them. They’re solid gold comfort reading for me, and they deserve all the fic.
I also love the world of New Orleans and the restaurant culture. I love the detailed, delicious descriptions of food. I love the nitty-gritty details of running a restaurant kitchen. I love the way that the narrative acknowledges race and class, while still being essentially lighthearted. I love the use of mystery and thriller plots, especially in the sense that Rickey and G-Man have to learn to rely on each other. I like the way that it deals with pain, addiction, and poverty, while still being so full of love and joy.
Did I mention I love the food? Everything sounds so amazing, and I can’t help but get hungry after reading. Honestly, this book series was a big reason I worked as a cook in fancy restaurants for a couple of years. It was so incredibly enticing, without romanticizing it. I love the pirate-artist vibe of the kitchen that Brite writes.
Prompts
- Write me a restaurant mystery/thriller! Maybe they accidentally hire a serial killer as a line cook. Maybe they get a stalker. Maybe they end up involved in mob shenanigans. I don’t have any strong specific ideas for a plot, but if you do, I would adore it.
- What if things get haunted? Ghosts! Vampires! Mystical shit intruding on their restaurant life!
- Rickey and G-Man getting high and fucking
- Rickey and G-Man getting married! Do they hold a wedding? Do they elope?
- What if a baby ends up in their lap? How are they as parents?
- If you want something ambitious, what happens with Katrina? Where do they go? How do they rebuild? The canon loves New Orleans so much and the city suffered enormously. Take that suffering seriously and approach it with care, but I'm from the region and I witnessed first hand how hard people who loved that city worked to rebuild. I think there's beautiful fiction in that.
- Bring me the fandom magical realism tropes. Soul-bonds! Soulmate marks! A/B/O! How does canon change when you add these things to the mix?

Black Panther: Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda (2018)
Characters Requested: Any (Bast, Emperor N'Jadaka, M’Baku, The Manifold, N’Yami, Nakia, T’Challa, Zenzi)
Preferred Ships: N’Jadaka/Bast, N’Jadaka/Bast/T’Challa, T’Challa/Bast, T’Challa/The Manifold, N’Jadaka/The Manifold, T’Challa/N’Yami, M’Baku/Nakia, M’Baku/Nakia/N’Yami, Nakia/N’Yami, M’Baku/T’Challa
✔️Yuleporn ✔️CrueltideThis whole section, including the DNW, is going to be spoiler-y for the run-up to the latest issue I’ve read, which is #016.
Specific DNWs/AU DNW clarification:
While I’m fine with N’Jadaka/Bast-in-Zenzi’s-Body I am not interested in N’Jadaka/Zenzi-In-Her-Own-Mind-As-His-Daughter. I’m totally fine with the horror of having sex with her father occurs to Zenzi while she’s being possessed by Bast/playing on the incest vibes, I just don’t want N’Jadaka/Zenzi without Bast involved.
Additionally, I would not like a story focused on Wakanda Prime/Earth or returning to Earth. I would like the story to be set in the bulk of the canon/in the Intergalactic Empire. I would not like any AU that shifts away from the canon setting of the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda
What I Love
I am by no means an expert in the sprawling Marvel comics universe, but I’ve very much enjoyed reading this run. I’d prefer fic that did not assume I had extensive knowledge of past arcs of Black Panther/related canons, because I don’t really know it. If you want to include other stuff, feel free, but give me enough in the fic to work with.
This comic has an amazing premise: 2000 years ago, a small group of Wakandans established a colony on the edges of the universe, which has grown into the vast—and, frankly, a little villainous—Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda. In the words of the introduction, "besieged by the whims of deep space, these Wakandans pushed their country’s traditional notion of self-defense to radical ends—true self-defense meant the conquest of all potential foes." That’s a fascinating premise: in many ways, it reverses the dynamic of Wakanda in more familiar branches of canon. Wakanda, in this canon, is very explicitly in the position of the colonizer.
The characters are amazing, too. T’Challa, at the beginning of the series, is a slave on a world mining vibranium, with no memory of his background, and he starts fighting for the resistance before regaining his memory. He joins up with the Maroons, led by Captain N’Yami, Nakia, and M’Baku, to lead the fight against Emperor N’Jadaka. As the story progresses, Bast—the actual goddess—gets involved, most memorably by taking over the body of N’Jadaka’s daughter, Zenzi.
I love so many things about this canon. The themes and ideas are amazing, but so are the basic tropes. I love amnesia. I love the way that M’Baku is thrown into a position he doesn’t feel ready for, after N’Yami’s death. I love the whole mess of weirdness with N’Jadaka, the symbiote infesting him, and Bast. Bast particularly is one of my favorite characters—she’s strange, sullen, and powerful, but not all-powerful. It’s a great take on what it means to be a goddess.
This fandom seems to lend itself to a wide variety of fic—shippy, porny, plotty, world-building, gen. I’m into all of it. I don’t mind canon-divergence AUs, but it is really important to me to stay in the setting of the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda. I would not like a story focused on Wakanda Prime/Earth or returning to Earth.
Also, probably because I am not familiar with the main arc of the universe, I have no attachment to T’Challa/Ororo. That doesn’t mean I DNW it in any way, especially since it is a pretty important part of his characterization. I’m just pointing that out because if you’re telling a story that relies on me shipping it, you’re going to have to make me ship it.
These prompts are written with context up to #16. #17 comes out 10/30; #18 comes out 11/27; #19 comes out 12/18. I'm going to be caught up, because I'm eating the canon up, but for your sanity as a writer feel free to consider the canon "closed" up to 16 or so. After that, most of it seems like it is going to be on Earth, anyway--which I DNW.Prompts
This is a lot of characters to request any with, so I just want to make very clear: I mean it. I’m fascinated by this universe and everything about it. If you have an idea that doesn’t fit a prompt or character dynamic I’ve outlined here, go with it. Also, I apologize for the length—I wanted to give prompts for most of the permutations that people might be interested in. (Also, no fic of this exists, and I want it all.)
- T’Challa on the prison planet as one of the Nameless! How does T’Challa’s essential personality reveal itself even when he has no memory of himself? Daou d is not in the tagset, but if it appeals, T’Challa/Daoud is also great.
- Pre-canon fight/interaction between T’Challa and N’Jadaka. At first, T’Challa fought for the emperor, before N’Jadaka eliminated him as a threat. When did T’Challa realize they were evil? What is it like when N’Jadaka takes T’Challa’s memory? Maybe N’Jadaka repeatedly visits T’Challa on the prison planet, to keep an eye on this person who could replace him as the avatar of Bast.
- T’Challa/N’Yami or T’Challa & N’Yami, where she mentors him when he first comes to the Maroons, teaching him about what it means to be a member of the resistance.
- N’Yami is a "taky-maza," which is an "amphibious species hailing from the galaxy of Nehanda’s Lattice." I bet that involves weird sex/pregnancy things. Maybe she gets T’Challa pregnant before she dies, and he does the rest of the comic with amphibious babies. I love badasses doing canon-typical things while pregnant.
- Stuff set in the two years between T’Challa escaping from the prison planet before Issue 2 starts would be really cool. #02 runs through a bunch of things the Maroons did in that time, in a briefing to N’Jadaka—a fic spelling out any one of those would be awesome, either gen or with T’Challa/N’Yami, M’Baku/Nakia, N’Yami/Nakia, N’Yami/Nakia/M’Baku
- Nakia is the only one of the core Maroons that does not have a background as a slave (and is thus ineligible for leadership). How was she radicalized? When did she realize the empire was fucked up? She says N’Yami taught her the way of the world…maybe with romance as part of it.
- Fucked up N’Jadaka/The Manifold. The way The Manifold has internalized his bondage/service to N’Jadaka gives me some fucked up vibes, which I’d really like explored. Sure, N’Jadaka takes his memory—but how does he entrench the guy’s loyalty? He has a glowy-eyed brainwashing-kinda-Winter-Soldier-y-thing going. I like that.
- M’Baku/Nakia in the wake of N’Yami’s death, when M’Baku struggles with leadership and wishes Nakia could be in charge. Does she rule from behind the throne? Does she work to get him standing on his own two feet?
- M’Baku and T’Challa have an interesting, contentious relationship—M’Baku is ostensibly in charge, but everyone knows T’Challa is the true king-type. It, at one point, escalates to a fist-fight. Maybe also fucking?
- The dynamic between Bast and N’Jadaka is amazingly fucked up. Bast is kind of the source of his power, but he’s also been working on getting a power-base not reliant on her for when he knows she’s going to turn on him—of course, he’s right. What’s their dynamic like? (Does she ever fuck him when she’s a giant panther?)
- Xeno with N’Jadaka/the Klyntar symbiote that is hosting in him. If it works for Venom fandom, it can work here. This would be especially delicious in combination with the Bast stuff.
- Vaguely sinister domestic gen stuff with N’Jadaka, Nareema, and Zenzi. What’s it like to be the beloved family of a despotic, near-godlike emperor? Especially since the comic seems to portray their relationship as basically good. And, especially since there are hints that before Bast overtly takes over Zenzi, she is being influenced by her—Nareema says she’s acting "more than precocious. So many odd questions lately." What is the slow realization that their daughter has been abducted by an angry goddess? Also, from Zenzi’s perspective—what’s her relationship with Bast like?
- Fucked up kinda-incest kinda-underage smut with N’Jadaka/Bast-in-the-body-of-Zenzi. Relatedly, fucked-up kinda-underage stuff with T’Challa/Bast-in-the-body-of-Zenzi. If you can make them be in the same place at the same time, the threesome is great too!
- Bast/N’Jadaka/T’Challa ancestral plane fucking—power struggles! Goddess sex! All that fun stuff. Basically, Bast/either N’Jadaka or T’Challa would be amazing and kinky. When asked what she wants, she replies: "What any god wants…your total submission." ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
- Manifold(Eden)/T’Challa, after Manifold defects to the Maroons—kind of like a reverse Bucky/Steve, where the brainwashed agent of the enemy remembers everything first and goes to the hero.
Finding Canon
Because it can sometimes be tricky and expensive to track down recent comics one by one, I’ve put the whole run up to issue #016 up on a google drive here. If google drive doesn’t work for you, let me know. Anonymous comments are turned on, IP logging is off. The first couple volumes are accessible via trades and Marvel Unlimited.
Ancient Phrygian Religion & Lore
Characters Requested: Attis, Cybele
Preferred Ships: Atts/Cybele
✔️Yuleporn ✔️Crueltide
CW for this request: weird Ancient views on gender/sex/genitalia.
DNW Clarification: For this canon, I would be happy both with fic set in the time period of Ancient Phrygia and other time periods—modern AU? Cybele with pirates in the Caribbean? All okay. However, I am DNWing any "mundane AUs" or AUs where Cybele isn’t literally divine/a goddess. You can interpret that in whatever tone you would like, but she should be magic.
What I Love
This is a strange, strange story that has a lot of my favorite elements of myth. Cybele was an ancient Phrygian Mother Goddess, and she was associated with "orgiastic rites." There are a bunch of different variants on exactly how her story, especially her relationship with Attis, goes down. Still, there are a couple of elements that are common/what appeals to me. There is almost always an element of genital mutilation and gender confusion; there is almost always an element of madness and going out of one’s head because of the divine; there is almost always an element of pregnancy and strange reproduction.
One version of the story goes like this: The Phrygian Sky-God the Greeks associated with Zeus had a wet-dream and ejaculated onto the ground, which sprung up into the intersex Agdistis. But the gods freaked out about the fact that Agdistis was intersex, so they cut off their penis. Agdistis became Cybele.
This penis grew into an almond tree. One day a woman took the almonds and put them in her breasts, at which point the almonds disappeared, and she was pregnant. The baby was Attis.
The woman exposed the baby, but a male goat took care of him. He grew up to be enormously beautiful, and Cybele fell in love with him. Reminder: she's kind of his father, in the sense that her cut-off penis grew into a tree that impregnated a woman via almonds.
When Attis was an adult, he was sent to marry the Princess of Pessinos. The marriage was being celebrated, but Cybele was upset and drove Attis crazy, and Attis cut off his dick. Also, the father of the bride cut off his dick too. Attis went into the mountains, overcome by madness. Cybele eventually felt bad about this, so she asked the sky-god to keep Attis youthful and beautiful forever, so he did.
It’s an odd story.
Prompts
- My basic request is a psychologically rich, horror-inflected version of this story. I’m really fine with any take on it or any spin, as long as it maintains the core violence and madness of the story.
- If you want to focus on a specific moment, what does the madness of Attis in the forest look like? What is the moment of recovery like, when Cybele restores his mind to him?
- What happens to his penis/what is their sex life like post-penis? Does it grow back? Does it not?
- If you want a variant, what does worship of Cybele and Attis look like? What are the rituals? If you want to set it in modern times, what would that look like? What does modern cult-like worship of this look like? Again, I want the magic to be real, even if the main characters are mundane.
- I'd also love extravagant monster-fucking type porn, which takes advantage of Cybele's divinity and violence. Go wild here: the core of her story for me is the way that she can totally overcome her followers and send them out of their right head and into self-destruction--I bet that would make a really cool sex scene.
Finding Canon
Most of the canon is not actually Ancient Phrygian in origin—the Greeks and Romans wrote a lot about the Phrygian gods and Cybele was one of them. I’m fine with that, as it is essentially that they are the sources on the older myth. I’m also fine with a more Greek or Roman inflected version of the story—I have no strong preferences about exactly what source you rely on.
Catullus has a poem about this story. This is how I first learned the story, and it is a pretty great poem. here is a good translation.
